CHRYSLER JEEP DETROIT APBA GOLD CUP July 9-12, 1998

Ah what a grand site! Eleven Unlimited Hydroplanes so neat and trim. I'll list them in order of West to East, but first up is a very special note..

* A tribute to Steve Woomer in his favorite Western-most slot. Dozens of flower bouquets and some potted trees have appeared here. Very nice and we'll have a pic as soon as we can.

* MISS CHRYSLER/JEEP: The U-2 of Jim Harvey Motorsports with Steve David driving.

* MISS APPIAN JERONIMO: The U-20 of Jeronimo Racing. Jerry Rise (owner) with Mitch Evans driving. It is wonderful to see them back after their great finish last year.

* LLUMAR WINDOW FILM: One of my favorites .. the U-8 of Bill Wurster with Nate Brown driving. It's great to see this team running in Detroit again.

* PICO AMERICAN DREAM (1&2): The U-100 owned by Fred Leland and driven by Mark Evans. Next to it is (I think) a backup hull.

* MISS CARPENTER COMMUNICATIONS: The U-9 of Lori Jones driven by Mike Weber. Carpenter Communications is helping with the ThunderCam so here is my round of applause in thanks.

* MISS BELL FORKLIFT: The third Leland hull - U-99 with Rick Christensen as pilot.

* MASTER TIRE: (U3) Ah this is MY favorite! Owned by the Cooper's (father and son) and driven by Mark Weber. The only V-12 piston powered craft on the circuit for many years now.

* MISS BUDWEISER (1&2): Well, you know.. the U-1 of Bernie Little and Dave Villwock / Mark Weber.

* MISS ARGUS: The U-14 is the only competitor where the Owner & Driver are one and the same - Ken Muscatel.

* Sadly missing is the MISS MADISON boat!!!! Owned by the citizens and driven by Mike Hanson, it is another perennial favorite.

Marbles marbles.. who's got the marbles?
